Stainless steel has been the presiding choice for new kitchens often replacing old white appliances that looked dated. Though it’s hard to imagine such sharp stainless steel appliances falling out of fashion they could very well go out of style in the future. In a 2010 study by Consumer Reports some kitchen experts said that the stainless steel reign was coming to an end. And what will replace it? Likely reimagined updated white appliances. For example a glass-like polished enamel that is modern and reflects light.
While countertops flooring and cabinets are generally places to keep it simple the backsplash is a good place to inject some personal style whether that’s with a mosaic feature or a bold color. And since that wall literally connects the countertops with the cabinets it’s also a place to tie everything together.

Natural stone backsplashes have a distinctly different texture than tiles and offer a contrast to smooth counters and cabinets. Stone is porous however which makes it harder to clean and more prone to chipping. An alternative to using smaller stacked stones is to continue the same granite or marble used for the countertops all the way up the wall.
What décor style is your kitchen: Depending on your decorative style of your kitchen will be the driving factor in choosing a cabinet style. Is your home traditional with ornate wood details and old time charm? You will prefer cabinetry that has fine detailing in the doors and possibly intricate door hardware. Is your home minimalistic and modern with very little detailing and sleek finishes? You may prefer a lacquer luster to your kitchen cabinets or even metal may be more your direction of style.
